1. What KYP is

KnowYourProfessional ("KYP") is an independent directory that mirrors objective, publicly available licensure data published by Canadian provincial and federal regulators. KYP is not affiliated with any regulator, does not certify competence, and does not host reviews, ratings, or opinions.

2. The bare-facts doctrine

KYP indexes only objective licensure fields: legal name, licence number, regulatory body, status, city, and listed credentials. We do not bypass authentication walls, and we do not copy biographies, photographs, or other copyrighted material from third-party pages.

3. Public listings are neutral

Every public listing is presented in the same neutral format. KYP does not style a listing as a warning, alert, or negative signal, and does not manufacture reputational pressure as a means of soliciting payment. A regulatory-status banner appears only when, and exactly as, the official register reports a suspension, revocation, or expiry.

4. Claiming and enhancement

A professional may claim their listing by verifying control of the email address on file with their regulator. Enhanced membership is an optional, paid subscription that adds presentation features (verified badge, photograph, scope-of-practice statement, booking link, embeddable badge). It confers no regulatory standing and removes no public fact.

5. Acceptable enhancement content (the blocklist clause)

Uploaded enhancements must comply with the advertising and marketing rules of the member's provincial regulatory body. KYP may auto-reject or remove subjective claims, comparative or superlative language, guarantees of outcome, or anything that would breach those professional advertising standards.

6. Removal

Any professional may request permanent removal of their KYP listing at no cost, regardless of subscription status. Verified requests are honoured. Because the underlying data is also public at the regulator, removal applies to KYP's copy only.
